Trui is a Belgian journalist who moved to Ann Arbor, Michigan with her family in the Summer of 2016. While waiting for her work permit she took photography classes and spent time exploring surrounding cities. She became fascinated with Detroit and studied to become a tour guide. Since 2019 Trui has been touring Detroit with Dutch, Belgian, and French tourists.

There is so much to see, so much to tell. As a journalist and former editor of Knack Weekend, Trui knows a thing or two about storytelling.

Trui is a member of Via Americana, a unique tour guide alliance of nine European women who fell in love with their new hometowns in the United States. They offer custom-made tours (in Dutch, French or English) that take their visitors to well-known landmarks, but also off the beaten track in Chicago, Denver, Los Angeles, Milwaukee, New York, Philadelphia, San Francisco, Washington DC and Detroit.

Trui still works as a journalist for Belgian news outlets. She is also a columnist for the online travel magazine june.
